Harvest Festival 2018

The 2018 Harvest Appeal will be in aid of Samara’s Aid Appeal, helping relieve suffering through the provision of humanitarian and medical aid in Syria.

The Services will be 9:00am at St Saviours and 10:00am at St Lawrence on Sunday 23rd Septeber 2018.

This year for Harvest Festival (Sunday 23rd September), we shall be making a collection of toiletries and sanitary  items that will eventually find their way to the refuges in and around Syria.  This is our way of trying to make a small difference, but with both of our churches and our three schools, actually we could make a very significant difference indeed.

Samara’s Aid Appeal was begun in 2014 when a school mum (called Samara!) wrote an email to other parents in her children’s school to ask for donations for the Syria refugees.  To cut a long story short, four years later they have been able to collect and send nearly a hundred lorry-loads of essentials directly to help those in need.  It’s quite a remarkable achievement!

What should I bring?

Please collect the following items (new items please, not second-hand or partially used)

  • Nappies
  • Baby Wipes
  • Sanitary Towels
  • Incontinence Pads
  • Bars of Soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Roll-On Deodorants

Please also bring £1 per donation to help towards the cost of transporting your collection to the point of need in Jordan.
