Faith

The Centre of Our Faith is Jesus Christ

To be a Christian is to follow Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and to try to live your own lives after his teachings and example.

What does it mean to have faith?

Faith is certainly not the absence of doubt, alongside a perfectly lived life!  Christians have their doubts and difficulties just as much as anyone else.  What perhaps describes faith best is when people begin to realise that their lives do not simply begin and end solely with themselves, and that there is more to their lives than just what they see in front of them.

Many people talk of a sense that they are accompanied by God, who listens to their prayers, and gives feelings of hope in difficult times, and blessing in good times.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

How does Jesus say we should live?

The Bible is quite clear about how Christians should live their lives, and what that means in our relationships.  Here are some good examples from the New Testament.

Can I find out more?

If you are thinking about your own faith, even if you think you have none, then why not try to find out more?

We would always encourage you to get in touch with Chris our Vicar, who would be delighted to have a chat with you.  It's also a great idea to come along on a Sunday, and to make some time for God.  The service times are here.

From time to time we run a short course for those asking questions of faith, which is called Christianity Explored.  You can find out more here.
